AI Skills You Can Use Right Away.
One thing at a time you can do with AI straight away: a prompt, a hidden feature, a 5-minute workflow or a Malaysia-specific use. Copy, try, done. Get them on Telegram too: t.me/aiboleh.
Got an official government letter? Paste it and understand it in 30 seconds
Letters from LHDN (the tax office), the majlis daerah (local council), JPJ (road transport department) or KWSP (retirement savings fund) use official language that makes people put off acting. Snap or paste it, and ask the AI to explain it in simple words, with the deadline and the steps you need to take.
A week of TikTok/IG content planned in 10 minutes, without it looking like ads
The problem is not ideas, it's consistency. One prompt for 7 days of content, with a mix of education, behind the scenes, testimonials and promotion, with promotion on 2 days at most.
One line that cuts down made-up facts: "mark [UNSURE]"
AI makes up facts with confidence. You can't stop it completely, but you can make it show where it is unsure, and that is where you check. Add this line to any task that involves numbers, names or laws.
Interview practice: the AI plays a tough interviewer, one question at a time
Not "give me interview questions". Have the AI play the interviewer, ask one question, wait for your answer, give honest feedback, then ask the next one. Use voice mode for the real feel.
Messy meeting notes → formal minutes, with owners and deadlines
Type your notes the way you would for yourself: short, messy, full of abbreviations. The AI turns them into minutes you can send. One key: force it to flag anything that has no owner.
If you use Gmail, AI is already in your inbox: use it for long threads
Gemini is built right into Gmail and Google Docs for many accounts. Use it to summarise a 30-message email thread, draft replies, and find "what did I promise to whom", without opening another app.
Do not settle for the first answer: ask for 3 versions, then combine them
The AI's first answer is the "average" answer. Ask for 3 different approaches, pick the best part of each, and have it combine them. The quality goes up a level with one extra step.
A week's menu + shopping list on an RM budget, in 1 minute
"What should I cook tonight?" is a question that eats up 20 minutes every day. One prompt with your budget, family size and ingredients that are easy to find in Malaysian supermarkets gives you a menu and a shopping list in one go.
Check a rental contract or terms of service before you sign
Not legal advice, but 5 minutes with AI before you sign tells you which questions to ask. Hidden clauses, penalties, and anything one-sided.
"Write like me": give the AI a sample of your writing, not a description
AI output sounds robotic because it has never read your writing. Paste 300 words of your own real writing first, and ask it to analyse the style before it writes anything.
Set it once, use it forever: Projects and Custom Instructions
Tired of explaining who you are every time you open a chat? There is a place to save your fixed context: business name, style, language, things to avoid. Every chat after that already "knows" you.
Translate BM (Malay) → English → Chinese, and adapt it so it doesn't "sound translated"
Google Translate translates words. AI translates meaning, and it can adapt phrases to suit Chinese or English readers. One prompt for promotions, notices and customer messages.
Turn your notes into a quiz: a way of studying that really sticks
Reading your notes over and over doesn't work. Being tested does. Paste your notes (or snap a page of your book), and ask the AI to ask one question at a time and correct your answers.
Summarise an 80-page PDF, and make the AI cite page numbers
Upload a PDF, get a summary. But the secret is three words, "cite page numbers", so you can check and the AI can't make things up.
Don't describe your style: show 3 examples
The most effective technique for getting results that sound "like me": give 3 real examples, then ask for 10 more. Works for captions, emails, product descriptions, anything.
Excel formulas without memorising: describe your columns, get the formula
You don't need to know the formula names. Describe what's in each column and what you want to calculate. The AI gives you the formula, explains it, and fixes it when there's an error.
Reply to customers in the language they use: BM (Malay), English or rojak (a mix)
Malaysian customers write in three languages and one rojak. One prompt that holds your shop's policies and replies in the same language as the customer, in 10 seconds.
Voice mode: "talk through" ideas in the car, get an action list when you arrive
The ChatGPT app has a voice mode. Talk for 5 minutes about what's on your mind, then ask it to arrange everything into an action list. Good for time on the LRT (city train), while waiting, or once the car has stopped.
Snap your receipts, get a neat expense list
Most people don't know AI can read pictures. Snap 5 receipts, upload them all at once, and ask for a table: date, shop, amount, category. Ready for Excel or an expense claim.
Make the AI ask you questions before it answers
One sentence that makes the AI stop guessing and start asking what it needs to know. Results improve sharply for any task that needs context: letters, plans, content.
